In my previous post on turning your talents and skills into a profitable online coaching business you discovered why you shouldn’t focus on just building a blog to sell ads or affiliate products but instead use your skills and experience to start an online coaching business.

In that post I also shared with you some possible coaching business ideas you can start right now with your blogging skills. This post is a continuation of that post.

Having established the fact that a coaching business is ideal for anyone who wants to make money online with their skills I want to share with you some proven strategies that will help you succeed with your coaching business.

Now, it will interest you to know that a research finding a few years ago showed that about 68% of adult Americans dream of starting their own business someday.

This is not just because entrepreneurship is the surest path to becoming a millionaire but because owning your business frees you from the 9-5 drudgery – it gives you control of your life!

Your own business means you’re pursuing your own passions and not someone else’s, enriching yourself and your family instead of your boss.

But here’s the amazing thing about that research finding: less than 10% of those who have this dream take the steps to actualize their dreams!

Wondering why?

For most, it’s fear.

Fact is starting a business seems downright complicated, whether online or offline. If you’re abreast of the stats then you should aware already that about 90% of all new internet businesses fail within the first 120 days! That’s really off-putting, but yours don’t have to be among that 90%.

The good news is that businesses started by experienced business people have more chances of succeeding. What this means is, if you take the time to learn the skills necessary to run a profitable business, you have an excellent chance of making a fortune.

In this post I want to share with you some of these skills and strategies.

Setting Up and Implementing Your Coaching Business

Before we delve into the strategies for making your coaching business a success let’s briefly talk about setting it up. Of course, once you’ve decided on what type of coaching business you want to start, your next move is to set it up.

Whatever coaching business you want to build can be started the same way. First, you’ll need to put in place a good plan and follow that plan exactly how it is because consistency is important.

With your plan you should include a mind map of each component of your business. You can search Google® for some sample mind maps. What this does for you is that you will be able to see all the different components in one place. You can add more or take away some as necessary. Having an illustration like this right before you will help you gather all the ideas possible to set your business up and run it effectively.

All you need to do is to take each section of the mind map at a time and figure out an order to put them in. There is no wrong or right order here, but your instinct may tell you to do certain things before others. Follow that instinct and refer to your resources. This may require more research to see if there is any logical order to implement your business in.

After this, take one piece at a time and execute it. Then observe what happens. The parts which work best will require less attention. Take those pieces which did not deliver an ideal outcome, focus on them and try to work out a way to improve it. Once it improves, keep executing it. Repeat this now and for the life of the business.

Note that things will change as your business grows. What worked one time may not work in the future. So always be open to creating new plans for your business. Remember to also be consistent.

How to Get Coaching Clients

Make mobile buying easier on your site

One of the things you’ll be doing throughout the life of your business is creating a consistent flow of clients for your business. You do this through effective marketing.

Now, no two businesses are alike, so there is no right way to market that will work every time. It doesn’t matter who tells you so. There’s no marketing method that works with certainty.

It is best to do some research and test your own methods out. Remember that you can research the internet, but test and prove things out yourself. A lot of blogs and websites are out there pushing out whatever they like. What you should rather do is get a good number of sites, compare the sites and blogs with the credible information you found and take the marketing ideas that make the most sense and use them to guide you.

Marketing should also be treated just like selling. As there are different selling styles, there are different sub-categories for marketing your coaching business. For someone who wants to build a successful online business it’s important that you pay attention to these sub-categories which are relationship marketing, social marketing, and content marketing.

Why I chose these three marketing sub-categories is because they are extremely important in a coaching business. There are other styles out there in the world but the main focus here is to help you with some basic ideas so you have a foundation to base things on.

Let’s now talk about these sub-categories of marketing.

1. Relationship Marketing

Relationship marketing is a fairly new concept as it stands, but in reality, it is something that you’ve already learned while in working a job. Remember you were told to treat the customer so they feel as if they were welcomed in the store or company? Yes, that something about the customer being the king!

This builds a relationship with the very people you want to do business with because you make them to feel at home.

Another way to build relationships with your customers or clients is to remember things about them. When you see them face to face, try and remember their name. When they give you their information send out a birthday, holiday, or anniversary card which can help build a stronger relationship.

This is one marketing category you want to be focused on more than others. The more personable you can be, the better your business will run. Those who are experts in relationship marketing and can relay the importance of this concept can expect to have an easier time growing their coaching business.

you should build your list

2. Social Marketing

This category has been around, but there are some important ground rules to adhere to. Do a bit of research on the different ways you should market through social media. It is more than just putting an affiliate like on your Facebook wall or on you Twitter feed. You have to engage the audience every way you can and NOT seem like you are just trying to get them to click a link and buy an affiliate offer.

Once you understand the ground rules, the sky is the limit with social marketing. You can join groups and go on message boards, but be warned, you want to build rapport with the members first. There are some places like the “Warrior Forum” that are designed for internet marketers. You still need to build relationships with the members before you dive right in and post your ads.

3. Content Marketing

Content marketing has been around since the written word. People have been finding ways to communicate with other people since language began. It is something that will not soon die out, so this should be another of your focuses when it comes to marketing your coaching business.

There are many other marketing strategies but focus on these ones for a start and you can be sure of success.

Conclusion

As I have mentioned earlier setting up and growing your coaching business requires a lot of patience and consistency on your part. Besides this you need the right knowledge. I recommend that you get the Online Coaching Business BLUEPRINT for all the insider tips and strategies you need to build your own online coaching business.

Get it now and save 80% on the cost.

If you’ve been into this internet marketing thing for some time then you should know already that you need your own product or service to really make it.

Fact is, the internet marketing arena has evolved so much that trying to make money online by simply setting up a blog and selling ads or affiliate products on your blog has sort of become “old school”!

Take a look around the blogosphere today you’ll confirm this for yourself. Most of the probloggers who are playing it big right, started out by selling ads and affiliate products on their blogs. But today they have all metamorphosed into big time online businesses, selling their own products or services. Some examples that would readily come to mind are Copyblogger.com and Fizzle.co.

Now, you may be saying, “but I don’t have any idea of a product that I can create and sell as my own, so what do I do?”

The truth is you do have something that can be packaged into a product or service. This could be your expertise, your talent, and of course, your experience!

Yes, every one of us have expertise that could be useful in one way or the other. The fact is, as someone who has been online for some time now, you have more than what you can turn into a thriving online coaching business.

In this post I want to show you how you can do this. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a blogger, affiliate marketer, web designer, freelance writer, etc.

But Why an Online Coaching Business?

Start a Tutoring Buainess

Of course, you may want to ask, why an online coaching business. What are the prospects of an online coaching business?

You see, learning something new is fun but it can also be a challenge.

Many times we are required to learn something new with our job and in other times we may be interested in something and want to learn more about it. This is the situation around the world today. While many people are coming online to find new ways of either making an extra income or how to build their own businesses many others want help with their relationships or career. Unfortunately, many of these people are lost and confused in the midst of all of the information out there.

While one would expect that, with the volume of information on the net today, it would be easy for anyone to reach out and get what they needed but that’s really not the case. With so much information and options available the problem of information overload is getting worst by the day!

Apart from that, I’m sure you’d agree that it is not easy to simply learn some new thing and then apply your new found knowledge in a real-life situation. It isn’t that simple because learning something and doing something are two different things. Look back to when you got started online and you’d agree to this.

Learning something and putting it into practice takes time, patience, and a good coach. This is where you come in handy. And so, no matter what niche you are serving right now you have acquired some useful skills and expertise that is useful to someone else.

Remember what Zig Ziglar once said:

“You can get everything you want in life if you will just help enough other people get what they want!”

That is so, so right!

This is why a coaching business is a great way to earn some good income online. In fact, a coaching business is a perfect business model for any one who wants to make a living on the net.

Recent research stats already indicate that coaching is one of the fastest growing industry today. For example, IBISWorld (a market research firm) reported recently that in the U.S. alone, coaching is a $1 billion industry and that the industry has grown by around 10% in the last couple of years and is expected to grow by about the same amount over the next few years.

So, starting an online coaching business could just be that breakthrough you have been looking for!

Types of Coaching Businesses

How to start a successful business of your own

If you’ll take a look around you will discover that there are different types of coaching businesses you can start right now. Just think about the niche you’re currently serving. Can you think of anything people need or want help with? Do you think they would readily give their money to get it?

Even if you cannot think of something right away the fact still remains that there’s a whole lot of areas people want help in and you can start a coaching business in any of these. Below I share with you ten coaching business ideas and how you can creatively turn them into a thriving coaching practice.

The following examples have been carefully selected to give you some ideas within different niches. You can use these as idea generators. Read each one and think of ways you can apply that knowledge to your own business. They are selected from different areas, including computer/IT, finance, career, parenting, gardening, school (high school and college), cooking, instruments, home improvement, and sales.

Each one is a different type of business, and you may or may not need any special experience to start any of them. However, it’s important that you let your potential clients know you are simply coaching and not giving professional advice.

Of course, if you are a professional in your chosen field then that’s great. In that case you’d be a step ahead of others serving the same field. But that notwithstanding, people will seek a non-professional who charges less to give supplemental knowledge to what they already know.

Again, do not limit your thoughts to what I have included in this list. You are encouraged to take these coaching business ideas and come up with creative ways to start your own business with your skills and expertise.

With that said, here are…

10 Coaching Business Ideas for You

#1: Computer and IT

Computers are designed to help people to become more productive. But there are times when they can slow us down. If you are great with computers, you can start a coaching business to help with those pesky issues that get in the way of getting your daily tasks done.

Let me walk you through some ideas to get you started with this type of business.

If someone has a minor issue and he/she cannot afford to pay a professional, you can charge a lower rate and coach them through the issue(s) from home.

Beyond computer issues, there are also lots of computer programmers out there who may need a little coaching to help them apply what they learned in school to their career. Using your knowledge either in computers you can actually be the help they need.

#2: Financial

Money management can be very tough for many people. It is very important to have your finances in control if you are to be prepared for your today and your tomorrow. You know the saying “save your pennies for a rainy day.” You literally need to save your money so that it works for you and not against you. The unfortunate thing is that so many people borrow more than they make in one year.

The best way to help anyone is to help them before they get into a financial bind. As a financial coach you are there to help people make sound financial decisions. The fact is that coaching is a great way for motivating people to take action and be wise with their money.

It is heartbreaking to see people when they lose so many things they worked so hard to get. Financial coaching may be the most sought after and necessary business today.

As you may have noticed already when people get into desperate situations they look for someone to help them out. While many people may fall into this situation for different reasons the fact still remains that in this day and age, it is hard to survive on the little income most people make. There are however, ways to manage your money well and live off of the income you have and be in good financial standing.

So as a financial coach, you will be giving sound advice and helping people learn how money works.

#3: Career Coaching

Your career is the most important decision you will need to make in life. It will give you income and ultimately help you to decide your best path through life. It is hard for some people to decide which career path will ultimately allow them to live the life they choose.

You might believe your dream of becoming a doctor or nurse when you were five years old is the best career choice. When you reach adulthood however, your way of thinking may change significantly.

In reality, the best way to choose a career that is most fitting to you is one that reflects the lifestyle you want. There are tests you can take and studies performed that act as a guide and give you advice on a career but this may not give a definite answer.

So, if you have a lot of knowledge about careers and which ones are ideal for certain personalities, you can build a great business as a career coach. Sometimes it helps if you studied psychology because much of how you match someone up with an ideal career has a lot to do with his or her psyche.

Do remember this and all businesses in this article are ones you will not need previous experience to start, but it does require some ability to work well with others.

You need to be good with people, understand their concerns, and attract people who are willing to take advice. They should be informed that the final outcome of the coaching sessions is a reflection of their choices. You are only there to help them see things with a different perspective.

#4: Parenting

Having children is a blessing but knowing effective ways to parent your children can seem obscure or even a little difficult at times. You will also notice each child is different.

The best advice for someone to start a parenting coaching career is to have some background working with children. It is even a good idea to have a degree in child psychology, but this is not required.

It’s important to repeat that coaching is about giving people advice and supplemental knowledge. Therefore look for people who are willing to take advice as sometimes giving parenting advice can turn people off.

Nanny 911: Expert Advice for All Your Parenting EmergenciesOne resource that will help you in this area is a show called “Nanny 911.” You may want to check it out and learn from it. These professionals have helped many families get their children on the right track behaviorally. Better still you can get their Kindle book that detail their strategies and tips.

Check it out here.

A lot of the strategies you will learn from this show has to do with the parent changing the ways they believe they should discipline their children. Success only comes from taking the advice the nannies give and working with their children in a consistent manner.

So if you feel you have what it takes and love working with children and are good at helping others see things from a different view, then this can be a very rewarding business.

Again, remember the world needs people who are willing to help others in need.

#5: Gardening

No matter what season it is, people love to garden. Some have indoor plants while many others plant outside during the spring and summer months. Others have greenhouses where they can plant any time of the year.

No matter how you setup your garden, I always hear people say they do not have a green thumb and their plants will not last.
It is those people who many times want to learn to garden but feel they do not have what it takes. This is where a gardening coach comes in handy.

There are many facets and different crucial elements that go into gardening in order to have the most success with it. Each plant is not created equal and will require different types of attention and nutrition.

If you are great at gardening and have had much success with it, then you might consider coaching others through it. It is always best to have a coach of some sort help another person. Hearing the advice and seeing it put into action are very different.

There is also terminology that is easier to show than to just know the definition.

#6: School (High School and College)

Learning is very rewarding but can be challenging at times. It does not matter who you are, your upbringing, or how well you absorb information.

As a child, many times you can absorb information like a sponge. However, when you reach adulthood, learning is NOT the same. There are many resources out there to help you learn something, but there is no such thing as too much help.

With so many learning styles and information changing so rapidly, there is a NEED for people to coach others through their learning experience.

Now there will most likely be some subjects you excel at and others you are not so great at. So think about what you are good at and work with people with that subject.

#7: Cooking

When you open your Facebook or Twitter profile, you will notice there are a lot of recipes and videos of people making the recipe. They look so good and so you just want to try it. For some reason, you quickly think, “I won’t be able to make it as good as they did in the video.” But you know that simply is not true.

You probably will not be making a career out of a few people who just have an interest in making one simple recipe, but rather someone who has a deeper interest in it.

So how will you know if they do or not?

You can look at the comments on the videos to get an idea of how to market this type of coaching business. However, you may never know who is really interested until they respond to you ad.

To advertise your cook coaching business make your own video of a recipe and put a link in it or in the description letting people know you have coaching sessions for people who want to become chefs or improve their cooking skills.

#8: Instruments

Music is often considered a universal language. It reaches deep down in our souls and touches many generations. When you like something you are listening to, you will put your own meaning to it.

No matter what language you speak, music will be interpreted in your own language even when you do not understand the words and their meaning.

People want to carry on a legacy that has been passed down for generations, or they want to make a crowd of people have a great time. No matter what the reason, learning instruments is, and will be in high demand for a long time.

If you know an instrument and have a passion for helping others learn to play, you are on the fast track to growing a lucrative business and earning many clients.

What instruments are easy to learn without being face to face with an instructor?

Pretty much every instrument on the planet and that is due to video and web cameras.

#9: Home Improvement

Your house is your home. You want it to be more than just a building where you eat, relax, and sleep in. It is a part of your well-being. Keeping your home in working order and having it look presentable is something we all desire. Sometimes we do not know where to start and we begin to look for some good advice.

If you have the expertise in home improvement, then why not create a coaching program for it?

For example, say you want to lay new tile in your kitchen. It may seem like no brainer, but there are actually some important things to keep in mind so you can prepare yourself before you start. The measurements of course, along with how to prepare the sub-floor and so on are all things a good coach can help with.

#10: Sales

Selling is a part of life.

Whether you realize it or not, when you go to a job interview, you are “selling” your expertise and skills to the potential employer.

People think of sales in a negative connotation, but here is your chance to show people that it is not so bad. Besides, people who are already in the sales profession know that they always need to find ways to improve.

This is why sales coaching will be a great profit maker for you. More and more people are starting their own businesses, and guess what; sales are going to and always will be a big part of it.

So, if you have some experience and success as a sales person then starting a sales coaching business is not out of place for you!

Gathering Resources for Your Coaching Business

The building blocks of a successful business

To build a successful coaching business, you need the right resources. But apart for that, resources help with credibility.

For example, if you want to increase sales a good resource for you is someone such as Tony Robbins. Tony Robbins is a renowned leadership expert and helps people plan their businesses. As a life coach himself, Tony has helped tons of people achieve goals they can only dream of.

Part of your career as a coach is your ability to speak in front of people. Again, Tony Robbins is a great example to use. You can find out more about Tony Robbins on his website at: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/

Apart from people like Tony, what other resources can you trust?

Of course, for every one of the coaching business ideas discussed about there are a wealth of resources. For example, for the financial coaching type there are resources such as Warren Buffet, Napoleon Hill, and Dave Ramsey to name a few. These people are resources when it comes to helping people make their money work for them.

You can also do some further research for peer reviewed articles. If you are not familiar with what a peer reviewed article is, they are written by experts in a particular field and reviewed by other experts in that field. After it has been carefully reviewed then it is published.

You can find peer reviewed articles, journals, and other texts of the like at your library or through the library’s website.

Please be advised that you should get as many resources as possible and refer back to them as needed.

That’s it for now. In our next entry we’ll discuss how you can market and get clients for your online coaching business. Watch out for it!

Ever heard the saying, a tree cannot make a forest? How about no man is an island?

There’s no doubt that you’ve heard that a hundred times. Now, the truth is that doesn’t just apply to humans only. Businesses too stand to gain a lot when they collaborate.

Considering the challenges of the business environment these days the idea of small businesses working together shouldn’t be toyed with. As a small business entrepreneur working with other similar businesses can help you overcome most of the challenges in the marketplace.

Some of the benefits from this include gaining fresh ideas on running your business, leveraging the power of togetherness to compete more favorably in the marketplace, tap into the knowledge and experience of partnering businesses, etc.

Fact it, collaborating with other businesses is better for you than flexing your muscles and competing with everyone else out there. Of course, I understand that you’re proud of your business’s ability to fend for itself. But you need to be careful because that kind of lone wolf attitude will only take you so far.

As I have said before just as no man is an island so also no small business is an island. Your small business functions as a part of a much large ecosystem, and it can really benefit from working with and collaborating with others.

If the idea of small business collaboration fills you with trepidation, then here are a few suggestions on how you can do it properly…

Tips for small business collaboration

How to Collaborate With Other Businesses

1. Find Companies That Can Do Things and Provide Things You Can’t

Your business might be great, but it can’t do everything for itself. That would simply be unrealistic.

You don’t have to fall into the trap of operating your business like a one-man band. There are companies that can assist you with logistics or technical issues that are hard to get your head round. Then there are financial service providers, such as smallbusinessloans.co, that can help you out too. Those are just a few examples among many others.

There is always going to be people out there who can solve problems you can’t by yourself.

2. Embrace Mutual Benefits

Any and every relationship your business has with another should be mutually beneficial. If it’s not, then it’s simply not worth pursuing any longer.

Go to socialmediaexaminer.com/how-to-use-social-partnerships to find out how marketing relationships can be fostered to everyone’s benefit. This is something that you should embrace, as long as you’re not trying to set up partnerships with direct rivals. That’s something that should always be avoided, but there are still many companies out there to work alongside.

Explore the options and don’t ignore the opportunities out there.

Mutual benefits of small business collaboration

3. Be Open to Learning When You Collaborate

As an entrepreneur, it might be easy to think you know it all, especially if you’ve had some success already. However, you should always be open to learning new things and embracing new experiences. When you do that, you will change your own conceptions and make your business better placed to increase its appeal.

Never go into this kind of project with a closed mind because you will only ruin the experience for yourself and your business. And that makes no sense at all. Go into this with a completely open mind.

4. Build Trust and Work Through Issues Constructively

Trust is going to have a big part to play in all of this. If you don’t feel like you can trust the people you’re working with, or they don’t trust you, that’s going to cause very real problems for your business.

However, trust can be built, and it always takes a bit of time to reach that point. It’s about proving to each other that this relationship is worth it. And when issues and differences do arise, critique and make your case in a constructive way.

Basic decency can go a long way when managing business is relationships.

Ways for small businesses to work together

Conclusion

While the idea of two separate companies working together may appear not practicable, in the post I have just shared with you briefly what this can do for your small business and how you can go about it. I’m sure you can now understand what it means to work with others and how you can manage problems, when they arise from your collaboration. It’s now your turn to get out there and start collaborating. It could be exactly what your business needs.

Alright Theodore, over to you…!]

Hey Chadrack, thanks for this opportunity. Having been online for the past 8 years I’m really concerned that many bloggers are still struggling with their blogs.

In this post I want to share a few tips I hope will help new bloggers avoid this struggle. So, thanks again for the opportunity to use your platform.

Ok friend, maybe you’ve just launched a new blog and you’re eager to see the cash rolling in. Of course, you’ve seen your friends gaining massive influence, and making loads of money with their blog, and you can’t wait to be counted among the super successful bloggers.

Now, what next?

You want to start applying all the expert tips to building a successful blog – flooding your blog with content, promoting your content on social media, commenting on other blogs, writing guest posts for other blogs, etc.

You certainly don’t want to leave any stone unturned.

But before you start doing all of these, I want you to pay attention to me first, let me tell you a very important that will prevent you from taking the wrong steps thereby bringing your blog to its knee.

Yes, I know that no one is immune to making mistakes however; being aware can help prevent them from occurring.

In this post, I will share with you the 5 of the dangerous mistakes most new and intermediate bloggers usually make while starting their blog. Avoiding these mistakes will immensely contribute to the growth and development of your blog.

Let’s get started.

Blogging mistakes to avoid

1. Writing for Yourself Instead of Your Audience

Are you kidding me? I never knew you’re such a popular figure. You’re probably a celebrity if not; you must quit making your posts about yourself.

Here’s the truth: Your readers don’t give a sh*t about you unless if it will help them in one way or another.

As a content marketer, you must inform, inspire, educate, and guide your readers whenever necessary.

However, writing about your personal experiences once awhile is good because it will add some personality in your writing but it certainly must benefit your readers in a way.

2. You Want to Please Everyone

I totally understood your desire to touch as many lives as possible via your amazing content, but I’m sorry to inform you that such idea emanated from Hell.

You can’t possibly appeal to everyone, and a lot of bloggers don’t know this. The one critical thing that will ultimately determine the success or failure of your website is

how targeted your topics are.

Immediately you start writing for everyone; your content will become disengaging and annoying because your blog will lose its main scope.

However, you should instead, lesser-focus more on your core values. Channel your content solely on your select audience and forget about the others.

In the end, this will help to build up your expertise in your industry and will ensure you don’t fill your site with myriad topics.

3. You Don’t Know Your Target Audience

This is one of deadliest mistakes I see among bloggers, especially the new ones. You may understand your topic pretty well but if you don’t know who your audience is, it will display in everything you do on your site, and this will even

tually bring about your failure.

For you to build a solid blogging business, you will need to connect with your target audience on a deeper level. This will help you to serve them better and give th

em exactly what they need.

For example, how are you going to feel when you have a mentor who always tries to teach you how to count and write figures 123……..100 when you’re already very good at that?

I know how boring it can be to attend such class, and if care is not taken, you might eventually st

op attending his class.

The same thing happens when your mentor tries to teach you Calculus when you barely understand simple arithmetic.

Funny enough, this equally applies to blogging.

For you to make it, you need to fully understand your reader’s pain-points and then meet them right at the point of their needs – you have to know what level they are currently at on the topic you’re teaching them.

Without knowing all these things, your tips will either become too advanced or too basic for them, and this will end up scaring them away.

Define your blog audience

4. You’re using a Crappy Web Host

I can’t possibly stress much on the importance of choosing a reputable and reliable hosting company when starting your site.

It is often tempting to use any of the cheap and crappy ones out there, but unfortunately, that will eventually drive you out of business.

For instance, when I started my first site back in 2011, I made a mistake of choosing a cheap web host because I concluded that I couldn’t afford a quality web host.

Wondering what happened next?

Just as you guessed, I never knew the hosting company was insecure as a result; my blog got hacked up to 3 consecutive times until I finally left that domain name. This really frustrated the hell out of me, and if not for the fact that I’m highly committed to blogging, I would have called it a quit.

Here’s the truth…

…Getting a quality host can indeed be pricey, but in the end, it will be well worth it because it will save you from a lot of headaches.

Therefore, stay away from those low-quality web hosts as they will do you more harm than good.

5. You’re Not Consistent

One of the secrets of successful blogging is being super consistent. This is very important for the growth of any blog.
Yes, I’ve been advocating recently that you shouldn’t focus all your efforts posting daily as most gurus advised. This is because it may eventually start affecting the quality of your articles.

As far as content marketing is concerned, quality often trumps quantity. But, it is also advisable to have and maintain a publishing routine. Can you manage publishing once/week, twice, or even five times/week?

This is entirely up to you.

Once you’ve concluded on the right times and days you want to be publishing, you need to stick to it. What matters most, however, is for you always to ensure your content is of higher quality.

You need to understand that maintaining a publishing schedule is not about “Let’s just throw up some junk post because I’m committed to publishing 3 times per week”. This will ultimately affect your readership.

Writing 2 quality contents per week will obviously be well received by your audience than writing 7 low-quality, mediocre content per week. So, choose quality.

Consistency is the key

Conclusion

Blogging is indeed a tedious task, but not as hard as people made it. Once you understand the basics of blogging and avoid the mistakes mentioned in this post, you will never have any problem becoming the next pro blogger.

You need to:

1. Write for your audience, not for yourself

2. Stop pleasing everyone

3. Know who your target audiences are

4. Get a quality web host

5. Create a blogging schedule you’re sure to maintain, and always focus on quality

With all these tips, you won’t have any problem to make your blog a massive success.

Decision making is a part of business success – it’s like laying the foundation upon which a house is to be built.

The decision you make either makes or mars your business. This is why it is important to get it right from the outset and once that is achieved every other thing falls into place.

Unfortunately, a lot of businesses crash even before taking off simply because something went wrong with their foundations – this usually as a result of choosing the wrong marketing channel.

Typically, as a brand new business that is starting for the first time, you need to observe the market properly before taking a leap to avoid crashing and losing all your investment.

It’s true that the field of marketing is filled with challenges, but you could lessen the problems if you know exactly what to do and where to start from.

Here’s the good news…

…Getting things right is not rocket science; you just have to know what marketing channels work for your type of business, and which one will be a waste of time and money. This will enable you to make an informed decision.

However, before we move ahead with this discussion, we need to understand first what marketing channels are.

What Are Marketing Channels?

Marketing Channels

Marketing channels are the various ways through which you can get in touch with your clients, customers, volunteers or donors. Some of the most popular channels used today are:

  1. Blogs or websites
  2. E-mail newsletters
  3. Print/direct mail
  4. Social media
  5. Etc.

All the channels when used well, can drive enormous amount of traffic to your site. However, there are three fundamental questions you need to ask yourself before deciding on which marketing channel to chose.

According to Neil Patel,

“By asking all three questions in order, we’ll get to the exact answer you’re looking for.”

Here are all three questions in order:

Who are your customers?

Where do they hang out?

What marketing channel should you start with to reach them?”

Who Are Your Customers?

Who are your customers?

First, it’s important to know who is going to patronize your service or buy your product. You can take a few easy steps to get to know your prospective customers.

Pick one person that is likely to buy your product as soon as you start. Let’s assume you want to start a motor mechanic workshop in Chicago. We can be more specific with the kind of cars you want to repair.

Let’s say you are starting a workshop for Toyota cars in Roscoe Village because that’s your place of abode, and you will be repairing the different models of Toyota cars in the area.

Now, your customer’s name is Tim. He is a businessman who also stays in Roscoe Village but does his business in Hyde Park, goes to the place about five times per week and drives a Toyota Camry (2015 model).

The business also takes him out to New York City once a week.

Now, we only used Tim to define who your ideal customer is. But Tim is not the only customer you’re targeting, but you’re also targeting other people driving any Toyota model in the area including Tim’s friends and families.

Where Do They Hang Out?

We already have an idea who your target customer is and the physical place he stays in. But that’s not enough; we need to know the places where he and his friends hang out online.

For this customer, his hanging place is the Toyota Community on Facebook, and you can also see many of his friends living in the same area in the same Facebook community.

What Marketing Channel Should You Employ To Reach Them?

User-Friendly Websites

Having known your customers and where they hang out, the next thing is to know the right marketing channel to use to reach them. Different marketing channels could be utilized, but you need to find out which one is best suited to your need.

Neil Patel advises that you should concentrate on one even though there could be more than one good channel at a time. He simply feels it’s better to know a channel, study it and master it in order to dominate it.

So, how do you go about this?

1. Start marketing where your customers are

Here’s the best thing to do.

Since you’ve already done your research on your customers, you should take the marketing right to where they are – right to their door steps.

In this case, you can start from the Facebook group where your customers are hanging out or to any other social network where you’ve been able to trace them. This way, it’s easy to market to the right person without much stress.

And since that’s the target audience, the likelihood of them buying from you or patronizing you will be quite high.

2. Start with “Hand-to-Hand” Guerilla Marketing

This is a great strategy that’s proven to work really fine. Sometimes, word of mouth marketing works like magic; nothing beats contacting people randomly (cold-calling) or walking up to them and convincing to believe in what you offer.

According to Eric Siu of ‘Singlegrain,’

“Almost always, without fail, the answer is hand-to-hand combat. It’s going out there knocking on doors, cold-calling and e-mailing people directly.”

A lot of companies adopt this strategy because their first 100 customers really matter.

However, getting it right with the first 100 customers equally means getting it right with the first 1000 customer, and the chain continues.

Unfortunately, starting with the first wrong 100 customers would eventually kill your business.

If you are testing a new product, it is easy to test it with the people around you to see if they would want it rather than hiring a developer for a huge sum of money to help with the research.

If the people turn out to love the product, they are likely to recommend it to their friends and family members.

3. Interview your audience to find out what marketing channels they prefer

This is another yet effective way of choosing your marketing channel. Since people of different age groups don’t fall for the same bait, it’s good to develop excellent communication skills that will enable you to reach each of the audiences with the right message targeted at them.

According to Valerie Neumark’s post on Rootid.com,

“Stakeholder interviews and surveys are an extremely effective way to learn more about your audience. At Rootid we prefer interviews, since you can “read between the lines” when chatting with people.”

6 Things To Think Of When Choosing a Marketing Channel

Target the right audience

There are six common questions you should ask before finally settling for a marketing channel.

The questions are:

1. What if two or more good marketing channels exist?

When two or more good channels exist, you can decide to choose just one. Don’t make things clumsy, and don’t try to carry too many things along at the same time.

Why should you choose one channel? This is because:

  1. It will be less expensive
  2. You can easily learn it
  3. Getting result with it is faster

2. How much is the cost of the channel?

Money is hard to get. So, when starting out, you need to consider cost. If you are presented with options, you have to go for the channel that would cost the least money to run.

If the money is not there, you can start with a free channel but consider other good marketing channels when you eventually have some money to invest.

3. How much time does the channel require?

Some marketing channels need more time than the others. For instance, it would take a longer time to compose an excellent blog post than it does to prepare and send out a direct mail or set up a campaign on Twitter. However, the channel you choose should depend on how much time is available at your disposal.

4. How long will it take to see results?

Getting a fast result means investing a bigger sum of money. The time it will take to get results on Twitter is faster, but it is cheaper to run a blog.

If you need the result quickly, it means spending more money on running campaigns on Twitter or any other reliable social media.

5. What’s the learning curve?

Whatever channel you choose would certainly take some time to learn. This is because, according to researchers, learning a new skill takes up to 10,000 hours.

In choosing a channel, therefore, you need to consider a channel that is easy to understand but capable of giving you the right result you need, at the right time.

However, investing a moderate amount of time in learning the marketing channel would be okay.

6. Some channels have hidden learning hurdles

You may end up learning some other skills before progressing to the real channel you have chosen to use.

For instance, to be able to use a blog for marketing, you may be required to learn SEO and content creation/marketing before you can do the blogging well.

To use Instagram for marketing, you may need first to learn what Instagram is all about. That may be what you never envisaged before choosing the channel.

Nevertheless, whatever amount of time you invest in learning the different foundational layers will eventually be a blessing to you in the long run.

Conclusion

To be able to market effectively to your audience, you need to know who they are, where they hang out, and the right marketing channel to use.

You must also remember that marketing requires investing time and money as well as learning one or two new skills.

When you see a channel, learn everything you can about it, master it and then add another. It is better to master a channel first and dominate it before adding another one to it. It is also important to ensure your hosting plan can carry all the traffic that will come to your site once your chosen marketing channel start yielding result.

Do you have dreams of setting up and running a successful ecommerce business?

Does the prospect of operating your own successful business from any location in the world, while creating the life of your choosing, appeal to you?

In the recent past, the ecommerce economy has witnessed a rapid upward growth. For entrepreneurs this is both exciting and intriguing and so, if you’re truly interested in starting your own ecommerce business there’s no better time than now.

What Is Ecommerce Business?

E-commerce business, also known as electronic commerce or digital commerce, is simply is a way of carrying out business over the internet. With the growing popularity of the world wide web and of course, improvement in technology that has enabled more and more people to access the internet, business transactions between companies and consumers carried out online are now a common thing. Consumers can now easily purchase products and services over the internet using their credit cards and get their purchases delivered through mail. One great example of an ecommerce site is Amazon.com.

Running a Successful eCommerce Business

Why Should You Care About Ecommerce Business?

Apart from the fact that the internet has greatly impacted how business transactions are conducted in the past few years, as an entrepreneur you should indeed be excited with the prospects of an ecommerce business for a number of reasons.

For example, you can extend your business reach beyond your local boundaries since the internet is global and not restricted by any physical boundaries. Besides, starting an e-commerce business is easy and inexpensive. Most e-commerce websites can essentially run themselves once they reach a certain point of success. And, as we have mentioned earlier, the prospect of growth is huge with more and more people turning to the internet to make their purchases.

Another reason why you should care about this is that recent stats about ecommerce businesses have shown that for the past decade or so, overall online sales volume have increased dramatically each year. Selz, an online selling tool, reported recently that online shopping and ecommerce is expected to grow by 8 to 12% in the next few years with sales in the United States alone going for between $427 billion and $443 billion.

Beyond this, the report also indicated that people are spending more money each time they shop online while BI Intelligence forecast indicates a spending of up to $632 billion online in 2020 for consumers in the United States!

Ecommerce Business Growth Stats

If you ask me, these are indeed interesting figures which any proactive entrepreneur would want to take seriously. However, if you expect to see results there’s the need to approach it in the right way.

So, whether you already have an existing brick-and-mortar store and you have plans of launching an ecommerce branch or you simply have plans to launch a brand new ecommerce business, you should be willing to put in the time and effort to produce the expected returns.

In my research I’ve uncovered some common specific qualities that many of the current owners of successful online e-commerce sites have. Note and implement these tips in your ecommerce business and they would definitely help you get off on the right foot.

How to Run a Successful E-Commerce Business

1. Treat It Like A Real Business

Just because the business is online does not mean that it shouldn’t be treated with as much regard as a real, brick-and-mortar store. If you truly have a desire to grow your business into a massively successful one, then you need to treat it as if it is already one.

An e-commerce store is a real store and should be treated with the same respect as the CEO of a multi-million dollar business.

Ecommerce business secrets

2. Use the Right Software

As an online business owner, it is essential to find the right software to run your business. One of the bigger choices you will have to make when it comes to software for an e-commerce business is the choice of an online shopping cart system from a reputable company such as www.1shoppingcart.com.

For many online business owners, choosing the right software for each area of the business is fundamental for the success of the entire operation. Scalability, marketing tools, security concerns and other factors all have to be taken into serious consideration when looking for software options. Choosing the best software should not be taken lightly.

3. Find Your Target Audience

One key part of running a successful business is correctly finding who your target audience is. A lot of businesses that don’t succeed have failed to take this seriously. Without knowing your niche, you can end up wasting a lot of time, money and resources on marketing to the wrong audience which won’t covert to customers.

Finding your correct target audience will rely heavily on your products and the focus of your business. If you can correctly figure out your target audience, you will be in a much better position to bring in steady amounts of leads.

E-Commerce Success Tips

4. Allow Customers to Be Brand Ambassadors

There is nothing better for the success of a business than to get glowing recommendations from satisfied customers. It adds credibility to your business, products and brand.

Collecting and sharing all of your reviews and testimonials regularly will encourage more participation and sales from your website visitors. While you are able to talk your business up as much as you like on your own, it is ultimately what your customers have to say about your business that will make or break the success of your business.

Conclusion

Ultimately, how big you will grow your ecommerce business is up to you. You’ll need a lot of hard work and determination. Most successful ecommerce shop owners have reported periods of failure before seeing and substantial returns.

However, no matter how long it takes success is sure if you don’t give up. You simply need to fully understand what you want out of your business in order to find the ambition to make it a reality.

Do you love football, (soccer if you prefer that)?

You do, right? So do I!

Now, one thing I’ve noticed whenever any team is playing is how nearly everyone who is watching the game is an ‘expert’. One common thing you’ll notice with these people, whether they are watching the game in the stadium or at home via their television sets, is the ‘expert’ tips and ‘technical’ advise they ditch out.

Whenever a player make a wrong move on the field of play resulting in some missed chances, these ‘unofficial coaches’ would say all sort of unprintable words. Most times they dish out instructions of what players should or should not do.

In fact, the way most of these self assumed experts carry themselves while watching the players struggling to make good their act, you’d think they will perform wonders if they are given the opportunity to be in the field of play. But give it a try and you would only regret the result!

Succeeding online and playing football

Now, I know you’d be wondering what has the Web Income Journal has to do with football game. No, my concern here is not about playing football but about the attitude of many who want to make money online.

You see, the fact is when you are on the outside you could easily fall for the notion that building a successful online business is an easy thing. This is why many of us were pulled in by the smooth talk of online marketers who presented making money online as something you can achieve simply by putting up a website or blog.

But all that was only a DREAM!

I’m being honestly frank here!

If you have been online long enough then you would agree that internet marketing is not about working in your pajamas, even when you could choose to do so. It’s also not about loafing it out at the beach with your lap while the money roll in!

One thing you must understand is that those figures that’s being flashed at you in those sales letters are results of long and tedious days and nights of toil and sweat. Sometimes, even years.

So, if you desire success online you should be ready to put the investment of time and effort.  Never think success online come simply by sheer luck. You don’t just casually ease into earning millions on the net.

As I mentioned a few days ago, the Web Income Journal blog, as it’s today, will be 7years in a few days time. In this post I want to share with you the essential ingredient I’ve found to be a must-have if you want to build a successful online business.

Online Business Success

I must say that of all that’s required to make a success of your online dream, this top the list…

Alright, let’s get it on…

The Essential Ingredient for a Successful Online Business

Have a Right and Healthy Mindset

As I’ve mentioned earlier, many of us started online with a wrong mindset. We had some funny ideas about making money online. But I can tell you today that was really FAULTY foundation. I’m only here today because I jettisoned that mindset after I realized the problem with it. And, I’m grateful I did else I would have packed up my acts a long time ago!

One thing I can say is that over the years there are many bloggers that have interacted with this blog at one time or the other. Over time I have discovered that many of these blogs have dropped out of the blogosphere. Many of these blogs had an “appearance of success” when they were up. But as you’ll agree with me, you don’t ditch a winning team, or do you?

I dare say that of the many that are dropping out of sight, most got it wrong somewhere. And, in most cases a wrong mindset is the culprit!

Now I must say I may not have the qualifications to make such a grave statement but after about 7+ years of being online, a period within which I have tried my hands in different online business models – niche sites, affiliate marketing, bum marketing, article marketing, blogging and even Kindle self-publishing, I think I can read the handwriting on the wall whenever I see one!

So my intention in this post is not to sound pompous but to help you see the truth so that you can achieve your dreams online. If you truly want to escape being one of the dotcom failures, work on your mindset. Period!

Online success strategy

Wondering what really is the right and healthy mindset for succeeding online?

To help you understand this let’s look at it in the areas of what it IS and what it is NOT.

What it IS:

1.  A right and healthy mindset IS the willingness to work as hard and as long as is necessary to achieve the goals that YOU have set.

2.  A right and healthy mindset IS the willingness to take the time to make a good, solid business plan that is based upon sound business principles.

And what it is NOT:

1.  A right and healthy mindset is NOT the belief that success will be easy, quick or painless.

2.  A right and healthy mindset is NOT just jumping in feet first and hoping for the best. The best that can happen under those circumstances is that you’d get out with nothing more than two cents to your name.

From the above you’d understand that those who believe that they can build a successful internet based business without putting in the required time or effort are simply doomed to failure from the very start.

I’m sure you don’t want to set up your online business to self-destruct!

Again from what is presented as the right and healthy mindset, you will notice that there’s the need for setting goals and making a business plan based on sound business principles. This is because building a business online is pretty much the same as building a business off-line, with a little difference in approach. It is important therefore that if you lack any knowledge in the area of your business focus, never hesitate to get it whatever the cost.

Of course, a right and healthy mind set may not automatically guarantee success online but note this very carefully, a wrong and unhealthy or unrealistic mindset will most assuredly, as the day follows the night, guarantee failure! So get the right mindset because this the first cornerstone that must be laid if a successful online business is to be built.

I’ll love to hear your thoughts on this. Share with us in your comments below.

[NOTE: This post was actually done a few years ago but then it’s still ‘fresh’ and to the point for a 7 year anniversary post. And so, I simply ‘brushed’ it up a little. Do enjoy!]
