The Secret to Getting Hordes of Endless Free Traffic as a Guest Blogger!

Guest blogging? To what intent?

Why invest your time and energy to craft some highly informational and useful content and then put it up in another’s blog?

Is it simply to get attention or do you want some free traffic?

Are you gunning for greater brand awareness or is your desire a wider following?

Now, if my guess is right, you’re definitely interested in all of these and much more! But come to think of it, if you’re already guest blogging are you truly achieving all of these with your guest posts?

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’m starting a guest blogging series that is aimed at helping you craft monumental guest posts empowered to generate endless traffic for you. This one is going to be quite different from any article you have read on guest blogging before now. It doesn’t matter your level of understanding about this topic you’ll definitely love this.

And so, without any further ado, let’s get on with it.

But first, the basics…

What Is Guest Blogging?

Guest Blogging Series

Chances are you’ve written guest posts before or you have heard many times other bloggers talking about it.

But what really is guest blogging?

Is it something that should be regarded as a work of beauty or art or, is it something to be simply judged for an award or recognition like in a guest blogging contest?

Of course, there have been and there will always be some form of guest blogging contest where the guest bloggers are awarded some prizes for their work. My first guest blogging experience was actually a blogging contest. The good thing is that though I was guest blogging for the first time, I still came with a good prize with my post!

Want to read the full story? Ok, click this link and read it!

But not minding that, I want to say guest blogging is neither a work of beauty or art.

Guest blogging is a marketing tool and a salesman combined! Its purpose is to PROMOTE and SELL. Your guest post would have succeeded only when it is able to persuade the reader to click on your link and visit your blog/site. Any guest post that fails to do this is simply a wasted effort!

Simply defined,

Guest blogging is the art of creating quality and compelling content and publishing it in another person’s blog with the mind of driving warm and targeted traffic to your business site/blog. It is about providing thought leadership and relevant information that will help you get attention and build trust among your target audience.

When it comes to guest blogging if you can combine quality with quantity, you would have hit an income-producing traffic goldmine that is sure to astound you.

So, What Really Is The Secret To Guest Blogging Success?

I know you’ve been eagerly waiting to hear it. And so here it is,

Begin With The End In Mind, Always!

When it comes to content marketing using guest blogging you cannot ignore this very important point. You must be clear from the very beginning what you expect to achieve with your guest posts.

I’ve discovered that 97% of guest bloggers fail in this area. From accepting guest posts on the Web Income Journal, I’ve discovered that many bloggers never care to get this one important element straight on.

Here are a few reasons why many guest blog and my comments on each. Go through them and if you want to succeed with your guest posts, simply pick your choice!

1. Building Back-Links:

This appears to be the most common reason why many write guest posts. But as much as this sounds fine, I’ve discovered that many who guest blog simply for this purpose produce nothing but sub-standard content. Too bad you would say!

Many of them do not realize that there is a great difference between writing articles for submission to article directories and writing guest posts for publishing in blogs.

So, if your desire is to produce monumental guest posts that will get you hordes of endless traffic, you must go beyond building back-links with your guest posts.

2. Drive Quick Burst of Traffic:

There is no doubt about it; guest blogging is first and foremost about driving traffic. It’s because you want to funnel some traffic from the host blog to your site/blog that you choose to take one of your content and get it published somewhere apart from your blog.

Unfortunately, if this is the only reason why you want to write a guest post, then you are going to get a burst of traffic just at the time when that article is published. Luckier still, you may be able to drive some more traffic for another one or two weeks!

The greatest irony of it all is that guest posts written with only traffic in mind do not succeed in generating the desired traffic. Most of these posts may succeed in creating a burst of activity on the host blog as the readers interact and post comments but none will be willing to click on the guest blogger’s links to see what they have on their site!

I’m sure you may have experienced something like this before. Well, I’m just assuming! 🙂

But, there’s a better way!

3. Promote Your Personal And Professional Brand:

Now, this is another reason why many guest blog but unfortunately only a few truly guest post for this reason!

Those who guest post for the purpose of promoting their brand will always go for quality rather than quantity. These ones treat their subject with depth and expertise. They handle it in such a way that anyone reading the article will be convinced of their expertise.

And this is paramount if you want to generate a horde of endless traffic with your guest posts!

You will agree with me that there is virtually no subject matter that someone else has not written about online. In fact, about 99% of the content you read on blogs is nothing but the same ideas presented in different ways!

Shocking? Not really!

But it’s the truth anyway. So if you expect someone to click on your links and come visiting your blog or website after reading your guest post there must be an incentive. And most times that incentive is the authority and expertise that your article is able to impact on the reader.

So, What Should Be Your Take Away From This Post?

Simple, if you want to powerfully use guest blogging to both promote and sell your products/services online you will need to decide on your objectives. Decide if what you want is to increase your site traffic or you simply want to build links to improve your SEO. You can also decide if what you want is to increase your presence on specific authority sites so that more people will become aware of your brand name.

This is crucial and once you’re able to think this through with every single guest post you write, you’ll be able to guide your readers to do what you have in mind with your guest posts! Besides it will help you stay focused when writing your content.

So, are you itching to craft your guest post already?

Don’t be in such a hurry.  We still have a lot to discuss on this topic. But for now, I’ll be glad to know what you think of this. Post your comment below and if you’re not yet subscribe this blog, do it now so as not to miss any of this great stuff!

To your guest blogging success!

  4. Nowadays, it is time for guest blogging. This is the second post in my entire day about Guest blogging. These tips help to get success while you are doing guest blogging.

    • @bjohn,

I must say I was really surprised that of recent many bloggers are beginning to talk about guest blogging. Why I’m not too surprised is that many more online marketers are getting to know the importance of content marketing and guest blogging is actually the most common among bloggers.

I actually thought of doing this series a few weeks ago. I only hope that I’ll be able to do justice to it the way it is welling up in my heart! 🙂

      Thanks for the comment.

  5. Great tips Chadrack!

While I do know that guest blogging has wonderful benefits just as you shared, but I have also heard a lot of negative views about it by a few people.

Nonetheless, this is one area I still need to start on with, as I know it has more positive than negative points attached to it.

I am just waiting to get started once my writing blog is complete, so that I can give it my full- as I feel blogging on someone else’s blog should be flawless.

Thanks for sharing and the wonderful reminder.

    Have a great weekend 🙂

    • @Harleena [email protected] Writer, A lot of people actually have labelled guest posting as a wrong marketing practice, but I think they’re looking at it from the wrong aspect. All the popular probloggers we know and emulate all started their career guest posting in other blogs.

If you want to be popular, contribute quality articles to popular sites. Don’t mind negative views, it’s not worth it.

      I hope this helps.

      • @Michael Chibuzor, – That’s absolutely right!

I think it has more advantages to it than the disadvantages, or else you wouldn’t be seeing so many people guest posting all over.

It sure is a great way to get more traffic to your blog, interact with and make new connections, get back-links and so many other things.

Thanks so much for sharing your views. 🙂

    • @Harleena Singh,

The negative views I have really heard so far about guest blogging is not on the part of the guest blogger but the host blogger. There are bloggers who, seeing the value of guest blogging, have opened up their blogs for guest bloggers and now allow only the guest bloggers to provide the content while all they do is post an occasional article which most times is nothing but a product promotion. These type of bloggers are only exploiting the content of other bloggers and that is why most bloggers don’t want to guest blog since they see it as giving your best to someone else who is using it for his own gain.

But as Michael clearly pointed out, the gains on the part of the guest blogger is greater, that is, if you have a good plan of what you’re doing. Once you set your plan, you don’t have care since you will be achieving your purpose with every guest post you write.

      • @Chadrack, You are absolutely right there I think!

I really don’t have much idea about how or what the host bloggers feel about guest blogging, but I have often also observed that a few blogs have more of guest posts rather than their own posts, which doesn’t somehow relate much to me either. And those blog owners remain busy guest posting elsewhere, or promoting their other blogs or products. I strongly feel that if guest posts are allowed, they should be limited to a very few a month, so that the blog has your mark on it- isn’t it?

But yes, guest posting does have it’s advantages too, provided you plan out where and how you want to guest post.

        Thanks so much 🙂

  6. Oh Chadrack I have been itching for so long! My trouble is time. I am always so busy, I try to guest blog, but rarely do… you are on my list of things to do, you might just need to wait a while!

    Sorry and thanks 🙂

    • @Christopher Roberts,

You’re not alone on this. Most of us thought starting an online home based business was going to give us more time for everything we want to do. But that is really far from the truth. A business is a business and there’s just too much to do in a day.

The only solution, as I’m fast learning, is to have in place a plan for everything. I’m already restructuring most of my activities each day because of this. We definitely cannot add to the time we have each day but we can make better use of them!

  7. Hi,:)The guest blogging is the best strategy to get the high ranking. This is safe and one of the most legible tactics to gain ranking and google will love you. Thank you

    All the best,

  8. Never tried guest blogging before but you do put up a great case. My blogs take a good hour to write and proof read and I guess I hated the thought of that work ending up on someone else’s site. I may have a re think.

    • @Gareth Morgan,

I can say I was in those shoes. I never thought of how I will want to take one of my best post and stick it up someone’s blog! But today knowing the benefits of the guest blogging I never bat an eye before giving it away!

Thanks for the comment and I hope you really set your mind to do some guest blogging in these ahead! 🙂

  9. Such a great article, I totally agree, guest posting is one of the most efficient tool for building backlinks, and it doesn’t cost a cent!

    • @Julie,

Truly love that, it doesn’t cost a cent! And when you’re in business saving some here and others there is sure to make the pocket fatten! 🙂

      Thanks for the comment.

  10. Well I’ve always been quite quick to put my hand in my pocket and spend on advertising etc but have never really liked outsourcing my blogs. When I start guest blogging it will be 100% free and 100% me!

    • @Gareth Morgan,

If I understood you very well Gareth, you mean you’ll rather pay for advertising than outsource your blog content creation?

Well, guest blogging is not really outsourcing your content but all the same it demands you allowing others have their content on your blog! And of course, if you’re going to guest blog you may decide to have all the content created by you or allow freelancers to write the content while you submit them for the traffic!

Whichever line you decide to tow the results will come to the same.

  11. Chadrack,

Sorry, I meant I personally wouldn’t pay to outsource my articles to use as guest blogs. I don’t know many people that do but I know some who have tried it with decent results. I guess it’s a matter of finding a decent writer. : )

    • @Gareth Morgan,

Ok, I got your point. But as I mentioned in the reply, it actually depends on what you want to achieve. Of course, as a blogger you will want to write all of your content. But remember if your aim is to really get your name out there and you have the money to spend, what stops you from outsourcing your guest blogging activities? You could have hundreds of guest posts written for you by freelance writers and then you seek out the places to submit them! 🙂

Besides, with the great results of traffic generation from guest blogging, many businesses are now using freelance guest writers to write and submit guest post on blogs right now. It will interest you to know that I personally offer that service as you can see here:

So, guest blogging is really something that bloggers should get into. If you can become adept at it as a blogger, you could turn it into another stream of income, or don’t you have the mind for multiple streams of income?

    • @Balu,

How essential do you think guest blogging is to every blogger? Are you a blogger using guest blogging to drive traffic? Will be glad to receive some insight from you.

  12. I was very pleased to find this site. I wanted to thank you for this great read!! I definitely enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you post. Big thanks for the useful info..

  13. Yo’ve made some nice points. The problem nowadays is that lot of “SEOs” are getting in to guest blogging just to get backlinks. I get lots of low quality guest posts everyday and it’s really hard to tell these guys that their post is no good. Nowadays I have started ignoring them.

    • @Harshad,

It’s funny that you have experienced this yourself! And, I think you rightly figured out what is happening, too many SEOs getting into this game. But beyond that, I also think that those creating low quality guest posts are not really SEOs. They are simply career bloggers who doing those guest blogging services for other companies. For them any form of article is good enough. I spent too many hours trying to re-write some of the guest posts I received because I wanted to encourage some of them but since I did this guest blogging series any article that does not meet my requirements I simply ignore.

      Thanks for the comment.
